Toad Manor

Having a robust backyard habitat means attracting and keeping a variety of residents that enhance their environment while minimizing those that hurt it. One way to do this is by having a resident…. Toad! Little known fact… a single toad consumes 1000s of bugs a year while having absolutely no interest in any of your plants! They also love the slugs, worms, and other crawlers that love to snack on the leaves and fruits that you work so hard to grow. You can house this garden defender in style in Toad Manor, a handcrafted toad mansion! Handmade from cedar planks, this eye-catching structure has sealant painted around the bottom to ensure no rot from sitting on wet or weathered ground. The size of the opening ensures that a toad can get in and curious cats or dogs cannot. To ensure your other garden residents know this is a house built purely for a specific garden superhero, Toad Manor includes a 3D-printed sign on the front (Toad House) and a detailed 3D-printed toad on top (Check out the fancy details!). A healthy toad can live up to 10 years in your garden and become one of the best tenets you could ever have! Get this unique addition to your backyard habitat before it is gone!

The best practice is to have your toad house placed by late spring or early summer. After migrating to local ponds, bogs, marshes or streams to mate early on, toads will head out to surrounding areas in search of insects while looking for places to burrow for the winter. Position it in a shady area of your garden or backyard habitat where there is a nearby source of daily moisture. A downspout, landscape pond, or rain runoff is more than enough moisture for a toad. In the absence of a consistent water source, a small saucer or plate of water will be fine, as long as you ensure that it is consistently filled. To make sure your new resident is comfy, toss a handful of leaves inside for them to use as bedding.

This item was handcrafted by my father, a retiree in Reno, NV, who honed his skills by creating amazing gifts for family and friends during the lockdowns of 2020. Having multiple health issues, paired with a global pandemic, kept him from spending his retirement as he planned. Never being one to sit still he spent his time in his small woodshop creating over 100 bird feeders, bird houses, whirligigs, and custom holiday items, all of which he gifted to family, friends, and neighbors. Seeing the happiness his work brought others, he worked with a local women's shelter and created over 30 handcrafted wood toys, which were donated to bring a smile to the children's faces who were staying. He is now sharing his talent and unique abilities with the world through Four Seasons Handmade Woodcrafts!

Great little toad house. Well made and packaged. I love it and so does Puncho the garden toad.
